I bought this phone for my mother-in-law who is 100 years old. She was delighted that she could phone from her room in the care home and wanted to use it straight away. With a little guidance she was able to use it. The buttons are big enough for her to use and the volume was good. There is actually quite a bit of sophistication to the phone, excellent for the price, but we decided to keep it as simple as possible: green button to answer; red button to end the call. She found even that a little difficult to remember, but the care staff help out. They don't want to learn something complicated either when helping my mother-in-law. In the context of a care home the emergency button on the back is rather redundant, since help is always on hand, but makes it simple for an elderly person living alone to get help quickly without having to dial a full phone number. One button does it all. If you have an elderly relative or have dexterity problems yourself, this phone is worth every penny.
